Lasik VS Contact Lenses

Despite that many people can see there are advantages to Lasik over contact lenses, they still choose to live with wearing contacts. Lasik does have several advantages though, such as it costs less than contacts and peripherals, and the fact that it is safer than contacts.

Lasik is safer than contacts?

Yes. With current technologies in both laser vision correction and contact lenses, Lasik is safer than contact lenses. William Mathers, M.D., professor of ophthalmology in the OHSU School of Medicine, performed several large studies and came to the conclusion that contact lenses are 100 times more likely to cause serious eye infection.

How is Lasik more affordable than contacts?

When you consider that the average cost for Lasik for both eyes is somewhere around $4000, and then add up the cost of contact lenses, lens solution, cases, and everything else that goes with buying contacts for years, you can see how Lasik is more affordable than contacts. In fact, there is a great website where you can calculate about how much you are going to spend on contacts, contact cost calculator
